Kanchi Idly is a popular traditional and authentic delicacy from Kanchivaram in Tamil Nadu. The idlies are seasoned with pepper, ginger, curry leaves and tastes delicious. Also known as kovil idly since it is offered as prasadam at the Varadaraja Perumal temple at Kanchipuram.

Forgotten Foods Kanchi idlies are made with Kodo millet whole grains. Kodo millet is an ancient grain and is known as Varagu Arisi in Tamil, Arikelu Biyam in Telugu, Kodri/Kodra/Kodon in Hindi and Aarka Akki in Kannada.

 

How to Cook?

The gluten free idlies are very easy to cook for your breakfast.

No overnight soaking, no hassles, just mix water and curds to form idli batter instantly.

Step 1 - Add 1 measure of MIX to 1 measure of water and 1/2 measure of sour curd and mix well to form batter.

Step 2 - Keep aside for 5 minutes.

Step 3 - Steam the batter in idly vessel for 10-12 minutes. Serve hot. 

*Measure means a cup or container of your choice

Kodo millet, rice, beaten rice, split blackgram, pepper, curry leaves, salt, ginger, cumin, cashew nut, edible oil (coconut oil & sesame oil), cooking soda.
